The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has commissioned a rehabilitation and treatment Centre for drug addicts in Gombe state.Gombe state deputy governor, Charles Illiya explained that the government built and equipped the rehabilitation facility for the federal agency to tackle the challenge of drug abuse and help addicts recover.
Tvc correspondent Lanre Adeyemi reports that like a storm, the tide of drug abuse is sweeping across Nigeria.
The goal of this facility is not only to rehabilitate and treat addicts but also to serve as a community Centre for enlightenment and prevention. This is the only designated drug rehabilitation Centre in Nigeria’s Northeast region.
Almost exactly a year ago, TVC News did an exclusive report on the state of this rehabilitation facility which prompted the Gombe State government to refurbish and equip this Centre.
