The Nigerian Army has wrapped up an inter-brigade competition on military skills which was aimed at sharpening the security awareness among corporals and the ranks below.
Mayowa Okunato reports that the Army competition is in line with the 2019 Nigerian Army Training Directive whose target is to have a professionally responsive Army ready to perform its constitutional roles.
Participants at this competition were tested on weapons handling, obstacle crossing, a 3.2kilometer run, map reading and rifle drill competitions .
At the end of the competition, individual and groups were awarded in accordance to their performance.
Senior Officers believe the aim of the competition has been achieved and it has also helped in improving the leadership traits and organisational capabilities of participants.
Major General James Myam added that the competition also focused on preparing participants for the task of tackling security challenges in the country. The Competition expected to be a continuous practice within the Nigerian army.
