The National Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), said its unrelenting fight against pipeline vandalism and other heinous crimes, is yielding positive results.
The Commandant of the Anambra Civil Defence Corps told journalists the success story in Umuahia.
Tony Ezechukwu has reports that the Anti-Vandals squad of the Nigeria security and Civil Defence Corps,Abia state command led by the Ukwa East divisional officer,(CSC),Orji chibuike arrested two suspects, Kate idjesa, 38yrs and Yahuza Abbas,32 in Ohambele/Azumiri Area of Abia state with a truck, conveying over 5000 litters of illegal petroleum products concealed in nylon bags.
While parading the suspects,the NSCDC state commandant, Nnamdi Nwannukwu disclosed that the findings of preliminary investigation carried out on the suspects reveals that the products has no receipt of purchase or waybill, the suspects has no licence to deal on the products and the truck has no haulage permit to operate on the said products which according to him,both suspects will be charged to court.
Nwannukwu thanked and called on members of the public never to relent in their approach towards giving out useful information to help the security institutions in the state to help in fighting crime and illegal bunkering in the state.
The two suspects who spoke to newsmen confessed to the crime they were arrested for by the security officers.
