The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has appeared before the Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal after the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP in Kano State filed a motion on notice demanding for its appearance over alleged denial of access to voting materials.
The materials according to the PDP would be used to back the earlier petition filed at the Election Tribunal.
Counsel to the Peoples’ Democratic Party PDP, Maliki Kuliya who spoke to newsmen shortly after the sitting, said the filed Motion on Notice was to complement the earlier granted Exparte Order given to them by the Tribunal for Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to grant them access to voting materials.
On his part, Counsel to INEC, Adedeji Adebayo says the allegation that INEC has been depriving them access to inspect materials is untrue.
The Tribunal had adjourned the matter to Tuesday 7th May for continuation of hearing.
