The National Assembly is tightening the noose on press freedom, with new guidelines that will make it difficult for reporters to cover plenary and other parliamentary activities.
In a statement signed by the National Assembly’s Director of Information, media organisations are now required to produce a copy of their income tax returns for the last two years.
Journalists are also required to produce a Code of Certification from the National Library for their media house.

And only organisations with a minimum of two years experience in covering the National Assembly will be accredited.
This new accreditation is expected to come into effect on the 11th of June after the inauguration of the ninth assembly.
