The acting inspector general of police faced senators at Tuesday’s plenary to tell them about ongoing efforts to check the frightening trend of insecurity in the country.
Senior Correspondent, Femi Akande, reports that the acting inspector general of police may not only be losing sleep over the spate of insecurity in the country, president Muhammadu Buhari jocularly said he is also losing weight.
He has come to answer questions from senators who are worried about the widespread killings, kidnappings and armed banditry in the country. But the senators preferred to have this important security brief behind closed doors.
Back in the senate, lawmakers urged the police chief to improve security around the country and on areas of intelligence and technology.
A July 2018 report by Amnesty International reveals that Insecurity is escalating in the northwest with daily killings and kidnappings by armed
bandits leaving villagers in constant fear of attack.
This have put the police under pressure to curb the spread on insecurity
