Senators-elect are currently casting their ballots to elect the President of the 9th Senate for a four-year term in office.
Clerk of the Senate of who took the roll call, announced that 107 out of the 109 Senators were in attendance at the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly.
All the senators-elect in attendance are expected to cast their ballots after which results of the election will be announced.
The exercise is being supervised by the Clerk of the National Assembly and the Clerk of the Senate.
The Clerk of the national Assembly had earlier read a proclamation of the 9th National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari, signalling the opening of the 9th Assembly.
Voting is still ongoing as at the time of filing this report.
