The Special Presidential Investigation panel headed by Okoi Obono-Obla has taken two senators to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, over alleged false declaration of assets.
Senator Peter Nwaoboshi from Delta-North is on trial on three-count charges of failing to declare three bank accounts he has reportedly maintained with Sterling Bank since 2015.
The other senator, Albert Bassey Akpan is accused of refusal to declare his assets.
Senator Akpan was initially arraigned before the Federal High Court but he objected to the competence of the Panel to file charges against him.
The court ruled that the panel had the right to initiate criminal prosecution against the Senator.
