The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Oyo State is appealing to the state government to immediately pay outstanding gratuities and pensions.
The acting chairman of the union made the appeal during a special prayer session organised for the new government of the state.
The prayer and thanksgiving session to herald the administration of Engineer Seyi Makinde was solemn.
In his inaugural speech, Governor Makinde had promised to rejig the education sector and promised to dedicate 10% of his annual budget to education.
The elderly citizens union also want the government to clear a huge backlog of unpaid gratuities and ensure parity amongst all pensioners in Oyo State.
