The Inspector General of Police has said 424 persons have been arrested in connection with kidnapping in the last one month. This is coming amid reports of a spike in kidnapping in the south western part of the country, a situation which necessitated a meeting between the
governors of the region.
TVC News security Sifon Essien reports that the Inspector General of Police disclosed this when he met with senior officers to take a look at the state of security in the country.
The routine meeting is coming amid reports of a spike in kidnapping in the south west of the country, a situation which necessitated a meeting between the governors of the region.
But in sharp contrast to these reports, the police chief says a lot has been achieved in combating crime particularly in the wake of Operation Puff
Adder. He acknowledged there are security breaches but described them as isolated cases.
In spite of remarks by the police chief, there are growing concerns that a lot more needs to be done to improve security in the country.
