The Accident Investigation Bureau has confirmed that an Air Peace plane from Abuja to Port Harcourt overshot the runway after landing at the domestic wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The B737 aircraft 5N-BRN aircraft skidded off the runway to the left about 1300 metres from runway 21 threshold at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The airline’s Chief Operating Officer, Toyin Olajide in a statement,attributed the incident to heavy rains.
The aircraft had on board 94 passengers and 6 crew members. AIB’s statement said all passengers and crew have been evacuated safely and investigators have been dispatched to the site of the incident.
