Senator Danjuma Goje has withdrawn from the race for the senate presidency and has endorsed Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan, for the position. He disclosed this to journalists after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
State House Correspondent, Mariah Olasehinde, reports that the race for the Senate President is getting more interesting and it is apparent that some members of the Senate will be disappointed at the decision taken by Senator Danjuma Goje to endorse Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan as the Senate President.
Danjuma Goje was a major contender for the senate presidency before taking this decision but he explains that his decision is borne out of
loyalty for his party and respect for Mr President.
The Governor of Kaduna State who was also present at the closed door meeting confirmed the endorsement and explained that they discussed steps
to unify the leadership in the National Assembly starting with the senate.

The elections and inauguration of the ninth National Assembly come up on 11th June.
