The medical personnel of the 23 Armoured Brigade has reached out to the Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDPs) camp in Yola with free medical treatment.
This is part of activities to mark this year’s Army Day Celebration.
The medical outreach is aimed at reaching over 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons at the Malkohi Camp, with drugs and other medical assistance.
With only 30 doctors in the employ of the state government, Adamawa is plagued by a deficit in medical personnel.
The outreach is meant to bridge the gap in medical services created by this situation.
Brigade Commander of the 23 Command, Brigadier General Mohammed Garba describes the health of residents as paramount, and pledges to ensure availability of health services, especially for those in difficult terrains.
He noted that beyond the outreach, medical facilities in the Army barracks remain open to beneficiaries for medical checkup and treatment.
Earlier, the soldiers cleaned up the Jimeta Modern Market in Yola, disposing waste therein.
Traders and beneficiaries applauded the Army for their selfless service, assuring them of their full support.
These outreaches are targeted at building strong relationships between the Army and residents as this is pivotal to combating crime and insecurity.
