The Nigeria Customs Service has joined forces with the National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to battle smugglers continued importation of banned drugs into the country.
More than 15 billion naira worth of seized containers of Tramadol and other medicament are set for destruction.
The Director General, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, inspeced the quarter guard at the federal operations Unit Zone A in Lagos before
visiting to see first hand, the volume of contraband seizures made by the command.
Both agencies are collaborating to tackle the incessant importation of banned drugs like Tramadol, codeine and other controlled substance into Nigeria.
With Customs having effected so many drugs seizures , decisions have been taken to destroy them.
The need for increased scrutiny and profiling of imports from India has been underscored, even as the Command’s area comptroller, showcased containers loaded with more drugs
Smugglers are being urged to trade in legitimate goods because when goods are destroyed Nigeria is losing revenue.
