It had reached such dimensions that the President had directed the armed forces to operations in Zamfara and Katsina states.
The state governor since resumption, has employed all measures in tackling the issues of armed banditry in the State, and his resolve now seems to be yielding fruit,
But he acknowledges the untiring efforts of the Nigerian Airforce, which has forced the armed bandits to the negotiation table.
Gov Matawalle paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Air Staff to discuss how to achieve lasting peace in his state.
Bello Matawalle said the state has enjoyed relative peace for the past 3 weeks and bandits have released about 135 kidnap victims as a sign of good faith.
He explained that most of the issues raised by these bandits revolve round lack of basic social amenities, which the government is now addressing.
In his response, the Chief of the Air staff says it is the desire of the Air force to bring peace to the state and commends the governor fro the path he has taken assuring him of the support of the Air force
The Chief of the Air Staff, stressed that intelligence is key in any operation and urged the government to provide support in that regard.
