The Former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Maikanti Baru, has officially handed over to the newly appointed chief executive of the corporation, Mele Kyari.
The event held in Abuja had in attendance dignitaries from all walks of life and past GMDs of the corporation.
In a brief ceremony, Maikanti Baru, handed over to a new management after spending 1,099 days in office.
He urges them to be focused on increasing oil and gas production and aggressive exploration to ensure that the country exits importation of petroleum by 2022.
The new GMD Mele Kyari is aware of the huge responsibilities he is taking over and promises that the Corporation under his guidance, will strive for global excellence,
Ensuring a strict level of transparency and openness in its dealings is a goal the NNPC has striven to attain over the years under past Group Managing Directors.
Mr Kyari believes that under him this can be achieved and pledges that he and his team will be accountable to every citizen and at all times
He insists he will deliver on the citizens’ expectations of getting the 4 refineries working by 2023 and growing the oil reserves to 40 billion barrels by 2023.
He issues a stern warning to his family members not to receive gifts from anyone on his behalf.
A new administration kicks off in the NNPC and one task MrcKyari must achieve is how to devise new ways of cooperating with relevant key players in the industry.
