The International Trade Centre and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council have announced plans to achieve a 200 million dollar worth of trade in Nigeria through she trades.
The #Shetrade program is aimed at encouraging women entrepreneurs to make their business visible and further empower them.
The she trade program was instituted in 2016 and has recorded over 4 million dollars worth of leads, but the program officer says the target is to achieve 200 million worth of sales in the country.
This is a meeting put together the International Trade Centre with the members of the private sector, the aim is to encourage more women to register and make their businesses visible on the platform by leveraging trade channel for the empowerment of women.
The she trade initiative is also aimed at connecting about 200,000 owned business in Nigeria as part of the broader United Nations goal of connecting three million women to the international market by 2021.
More than 800 small and medium enterprises owned by women have been equipped with the necessary tools which includes business export strategies a move aimed at assisting government in achieving its zero oil plan.
