Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, admits Nigeria is still far from the target of self sufficiency in food production but there is a continuous drastic drop in food import.
Professor Osinbajo says the federal government is also consolidating on this gain by improving the entire value chain of agricultural production.

He says there is an increasing global demand for food grown in Nigeria but the country must first produce enough to feed its population before meeting export needs.

“Everybody has been talking about the AfCTA and interested in when Nigeria will sign. Why are they interested, it is because we are the market, where else is the market as large as ours in Africa.
