Organised labour and civil society groups have staged a walk to the headquarters of ECOWAS in Abuja, demanding action by the sub region on the worsening crisis of inequality.
The rally is in reaction to a recent study which showed that the level of inequality is at a crisis level in West Africa. The report recommends reduction in the inequality index in West Africa and Africa as a whole.
A group of non state actors says the essence of the report is not to create hatred or disaffection for the rich and the wealthy but to identify inequality as a threat to social.cohesion and insecurity for both the rich and the poor.
