The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit challenging the qualification of Nyesom Wike to uphold the governorship seat in the Rivers State elections.
In the led judgment read by Justice Paul Galinje prepared by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, set aside the judgment of the court of Appeal.
The supreme court held that the Appellate court erred in law to have allowed the appellant, Elvis Chinda to amend his notice of appeal several days after he ought to have done so.
The 5 man panel of the Justice’s of the supreme court held that amendment of notice of Appeal cannot be done outside the time stipulated by law.
Governor Nyesom Wike had approached the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the appellate court, which allowed Mr Chinda to amend his notice of appeal seeking the removal of Mr Wike as governor of Rivers state on ground of alleged age falsification.
