The deputy governor of Taraba, Haruna Manu, and his Benue counterpart, Benson Abounu have called for collaboration among traditional rulers to end community clashes.
This call was made during a joint security meeting with tivs and Jukuns peace committee at the Benue State Government House, Makurdi
Arriving at the Benue government House in the absence of their principals,the Deputy governor of Taraba, Haruna Manu, and his Benue counterpart, Benson Abounu, they had a joint security meeting with the Tiv-Jukun peace committee to resolve the inter ethnic crisis that has led to massive killings and wanton destruction of properties
The Deputies expressed their ill-feelings towards the two groups who recently threw caution to the wind.
They later had a closed door meeting which lasted about an hour with the joint peace committee.
The parties came up with a communique at the end, which they believe would
result in a lasting peace.
Delegates from both sides also believe that this resolution reached will bring an end to the crisis.
They collectively agreed that henceforth any person found breaching the peace of the land would be severely dealt with according to the law, no matter how highly-placed.
