The court gave the order following an application by the Edo state government challenging the senate’s resolution.
Last month, the Senate gave the governor, Godwin Obaseki, a one-week ultimatum to issue a fresh proclamation to inaugurate the Edo assembly.
But Governor Obaseki refused to do so, saying the senate’s action is illegal and cannot stand.
