The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, said it will do all within its constitutional powers to protect hardworking and law abidingNigerians.
This assurance is coming on the heels of the recent indictment of more than 80 Nigerians in a Cybercrime dragnet instituted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States of America.
Correspondent Olutayo Famous Cole reports that the detectives expressed displeasure over the soiled image of Nigeria in recent times an act they said is being perpetrated by a few criminals.
The EFCC said it is closing in on the cyber fraudsters and went a step further to illustrate their mode of operation.
This year alone, the agency says it has arrested 263 suspects for Cybercrime related offences with 111 sentenced to various jail terms.
The EFCC also said it had nabbed an internet fraud kingpin, Ajayi Gbenga-Festus who had been on its Watchlist for a very long time.
The command urged parents to instil discipline in their wards, warning that the Agency would deal decisively with anyone bent on tarnishing the image of the country.
The Zone said it has recovered huge sums in local and foreign currencies, and vowed to continue to collaborating with international organizations
with similar mandate until the scourge of Cybercrime is defeated.
