The Federal Ministry of Environment in Collaboration with Yobe state Government have flagged off a three million Tree Planting campaign, to combat desertification in Nangere Local Government Area of the state.
Michael Oshomah reportws that Yobe is among front line states most prone to desertification.
The desertification threat had for a long time only been minimally addressed in state, but now the federal Ministry Environment is partnering with the Yobe state government to aggressively fix the situation
To this end the partnership has provided 3million tree seeds to distribute for a tree planting campaign in Nangere over the next three years in order
to combat desertification.
The Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni who was represented at the event expressed appreciate the federal government’s gesture, noting that it would go a long way in combating the threat posed by desertification.
The Yobe Government called on residents to cultivate habit of planting trees in their environs.
