Niger State governor, Abubakar Bello, has raised the alarm that armed bandits have invaded communities in the state, and are planning to build camps.
He disclosed this while soliciting the intervention of the Nigerian Air Force.
There is an amnesty programme in Zamfara State where those who accepted to drop their weapons are granted pardon, but the bandits who turned down the offer are shifting their base to Niger; raiding villages, kidnapping locals and engaging in armed robbery.
The governor explained that the money gotten by the bandits as ransom for kidnapping is used to procure weapons.
He said air strikes by the air force is being considered and that’s why he decided to visit the Force headquarters for assistance.
