Gunmen has kidnapped Adamu Zata, a Professor of Soil Science in Modibbo Adamawa University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa state.
The kidnappers also killed the professor’s younger brother, Dr. Sheda Zata, a veterinary doctor.
The Spokesman of Adamawa police command DSP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed accident.
According to him “the incident took place at about 2:00am, stressing that the commissioner of Police has deployed operatives to apprehend the kidnappers”.
He furthered that remains of the victim has been deposited at the Specialists Hospital Yola.
A family member disclosed that armed kidnappers numbering more than ten, broke into the house of the professor in Girei, around 2:00am Monday and took him on gun point, killing his younger brother, Dr. Sheda, 49 years old.
Professor Zata, was sometimes in October last year abducted at the same residence, located some 100 meters from the Girei Divisional Police station and his family reportedly paid a ransom of N2 million to secure his release.
