A meeting between the House of Representatives and security chiefs to deliberate on the challenges of insecurity in the country was on Friday stalled.
This is because the Chief of Defence Staff and other service chiefs were absent.
Only the Inspector General of Police and the Director General, Department of State Service were available at the meeting.
The meeting was at the instance of the leadership of the House of Representatives led by Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.
A visibly angry Speaker expressed sadness at the absence of the security chiefs, describing is as unhealthy for the nation’s democracy.
The Speaker had led a delegation of lawmakers on assessment visits to Zamfara and Katsina state on the state of insecurity.
He had promised necessary legislative interventions from the parliament to address growing insecurity, particularly in the Northern part of the country.
