The Standards Organisation of Nigeria has mandated steel operators and cable manufacturers in the country to brace up for global competitiveness.
The agency told products manufacturers at a meeting in Lagos to utilise the gains of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement, which Nigeria is signatory to.
TVC News Correspondent, Ifunanya Eze reports that cables and steel products manufacturing have been described as major export products for Nigeria, that are yielding foreign exchange reserve for the country.
At this meeting with cable and steel products operators, the standards regulatory agency is tasking manufacturers to synergise their operations and produce quality products that can enjoy a huge market share in Nigeria and outside the country.
For the products manufacturers, continued improvement on standards is key to global trade.
The conviction is that the use of the harmonized standards would achieve seamless trading activities and break technical barriers.
