The Imo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the election of governor Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party. The chairman of the tribunal panel, Justice Malami Umar Dogondaji, in his judgement said the petitioners failed to show their entitlements to all the reliefs sought and dismissed all petitions.
After about 9 hours, the petitions against governor Emeka Ihedioha were dismissed because petitioners failed to discharge the burden to prove the allegations
The Chairman of the 3-man panel expunged the evidences because it was not tendered by the makers of the evidence. Three other candidates filed petitions at the tribunal against the winner of the Imo State gubernatorial election.
After the March 9th Governorship elections, Uche Nwosu of the Action Alliance, Ifeanyi Araraume of the All Progressives Grand Alliance party and Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress filed petitions against the declared winner asking the tribunal to nullify the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Upon the affirmation of the election by the tribunal, the PDP party members who were at the court burst in songs of jubilation.
