South Africa has come up with what the government says is a plan to deal with attacks on foreigners.
At a news conference on Tuesday, three ministers said the plan includes an intelligence-driven operation that would strengthen police to ensure speedy arrests of people who attack migrants.
The ministers of justice, crime prevention, and security cluster also disclosed plans to deport people without proper documentation, and charge employers who breach immigration laws.
They said close to 700 suspects have been arrested since September 1.
