The President of football body, FIFA, Gianni Infantino has said China will host the first edition of the new, expanded 24-team Club World Cup in 2021
The announcement comes after a meeting of the FIFA Council in Shanghai, China.
The world body declared it would change the tournament to a 24-team format from 2021 and it would take place in June-July.
Infantino said the competition will feature eight teams from Europe, one from China, one from Oceania and three each from the other Confederations.
The President of FIFA also announced that the hosts for the 2030 World Cup would be chosen at a Congress in 2024.
