Nigeria’s Electoral Institute has charged the Independent Electoral Commission to conduct credible elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states.
This according to the Institute, will provide the electoral umpire yet another opportunity to test-run its policies.
Correspondent Habidah Lawal reports that Nigeria’s experience over the years shows that democracy especially it’s electoral component is not without danger.
As the the Kogi and Bayelsa states election draws nearer, some of the challenges the Independent National Electoral commission would confront has been identified as logistics and manpower, and voter apathy.
The electoral institute is certain that this time around there will be a positive improvement in the electoral process in the two states, compared
to previous years.
Civic and voter education is central to the success of the governorship election, voters are enjoined to uphold uprightness and a non-violent means of defending their votes.
