The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics has commended the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun for his intervention in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.
The National President of the Association, Adebajo Ogunsipe made this known in Abeokuta during his visit to the Institution.
TVC News Kazeem Olowe reports that for more than two years, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta was unable to admit students due to the proposed take off of Moshood Abiola University of Science and Technology and Ogun State Polytechnic Ipokia; the action which affected the staff and students of the institution, until the administration of Dapo Abiodun came on board and return the school back to its status.
Commenting on what the step taken by the Governor, the National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics, Adebanjo Ogunsipe said the Governor has reawaken the sleeping giant.
The National President who is also from the institution said the state Government needs to invest in technical education in order to provide
required manpower for new companies springing up in the state.
On his part, the Rector of the Institution, Samson Odedina noted that the institution is set to work in line with the vision of the state government. He highlighted some of the things the institution is doing to reduce unemployment in the country.
He also advised Polytechnics staff to continue to be abreast of trends and be part of the struggle to reposition the nation’s education sector.
