Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, says the Nigerian Air force will soon take delivery of two additional helicopter gunships in its bid to enhance counterinsurgency efforts.
Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar disclosed this at the winging ceremony of the Nigerian Air force pilots in Abuja.
A total number of 13 pilots were winged into the Nigerian Air Force at an event comprising of 12 helicopter pilots, including the first female combat helicopter pilot and the first female fighter jet pilot in the 55 year history of the Nigerian Air Force.
By the winging of these pilots , the Nigerian Air Force, would have winged a total number of 101 pilots from 2015 to date.
Also decorated was the first female Air Warrant Officer, Grace Garba a non commissioned officer.
The Chief of The Air Staff admonished the newly winged pilots, to be disciplined and to engage in result oriented hard work to succeed in their profession.
