President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has inaugurated the Kigali Logistics Platform. The initiative is expected to boost international trade.
The platform is operated by the United Arab Emirates logistics firm, DP World and it is a dry port located in Masaka, a Kigali suburb to ease trade in Rwanda and neighbouring markets.
The $35 million facility has the capacity to handle 50,000 containers and 650,000 tonnes of warehousing capacity.
The Dry Port is expected to reduce the truck-turnaround number from an average of 10 days to three days and bring down the cost of doing business.
