Members of the peoples Democratic Party in the Bayelsa House Of Assembly have dispelled a rumour suggesting plans by lawmakers to impeach Governor Seriake Dickson.
Addressing journalists after a closed door meeting in Yenagoa, the speaker and members of the state assembly described the story as unfounded and only peddled by detractors, bent on causing disharmony between the legislature and the executive.
19 Members of the House of Assembly are from the Peoples Democratic Party while 5 are from the All Progressives Congress in the 24-Member House.
Following the declaration of David Lyon of the APC as winner of the Governorship election in Bayelsa, word had gone round especially via social
media that plans were underway to impeach Governor Seriake Dickson.
The lawmakers are also aware of the growing speculation. Just how firm is the bond of friendship among the lawmakers from the party
with the umbrella symbol.
The Bayelsa Assembly will be having an executive on Tuesday.
