Persons living with disabilities are urging the Nigerian government to make budgeting inclusive in order to accommodate their health care needs, especially women and girls with disabilities.
This was made known at a press briefing in Abuja. Women and girls living with disabilities make up 60 percent of the 25 million Nigerians with disabilities.
The group advocates the need for proper health care for persons like them, because they believe that inclusion of their health care needs will improve sustainable growth and development in the country.
The 16 days of activism for the elimination of violence against women is ongoing, and advocates believe that the campaign for gender based violence has left persons living with disability behind.
Prioritizing inclusive budgeting for sexual and reproductive health rights and other key heath needs will help to improve the life and access to
health care services for all persons living with disabilities.
