The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the House of Representatives Committee on petroleum downstream have assured Nigerians of safer road haulage of petroleum products from depots.
This assurance was given during the inspection of palliative Works on the ijegun -egba access road in Lagos.
The committee went on an inspection of palliative works on the ijegun-egba access road which hosts depot owners is an extension of current engagement between the NNPC, ministry of Works, Depot owners and the Lagos State government.
The poor state of access to road and adjourning routes has been a cause of concern for residents over the years. This moved depot owners to pull resources together to fix the road in collaboration with the Nigerian army Corp engineers to ensure free movement of tankers out of the area.
A further assurance was given on the adequate petroleum products for the yuletide with a current stock of 2.6 million litres of PMS both in marine and in tank.
The team warns there will be stiffer sanctions on sharp practices.
Further engagements are expected to continue to deal with other pertinent issues in the area of operations at the depots at the Satellite town.
