Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson said there is no truth in claims of flooding at the Bayelsa International and Cargo Airport.
Calling on the Federal Government, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and other regulatory bodies to without issue approvals for the commencement of flight operations, Governor Seriake Dickson took journalists on an inspection tour of the project to completely douse the speculation.
TVC News recalls that on February 14, the people of Bayelsa witnessed the maiden flight into Bayelsa International Passenger and Cargo Airport. Another plane also landed on the runway, evoking excitement from the people, but nine months after, no activities are seen.
While the people eagerly await the inauguration of the airport, statements credited to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress graced
the pages of some national dailies promoting the inviting of journalists to an inspection tour of the project to ascertain the credibility of the issue
of flooding.
Governor Seriake Dickson took journalists on a long walk inspecting the 3.5 kilometre runway, the control tower and fire fighting facilities and core
components of the facility.
