Raheem Sterling has been sensationally axed from England’s European Championship qualifier against Montenegro after an angry bust-up with Joe Gomez.
It was reported that the Manchester star attempted to grab Gomez by the neck following his arrival in the players’ canteen at St George’s Park on Monday, the day after they clashed during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City.
The English FA confirmed that Sterling will not be considered for selection against Montenegro on Thursday as a result.
The 24-year-old will stay with the squad and could play against Kosovo on Sunday.
