Today is International Anti-corruption Day and the united nations secretary general, Antonio Guterres is urging people across countries to continue to work on innovative solutions to win the battle against corruption and to ensure that precious resources serve the people of the world.
In commemoration of the 2019 International Anti-corruption Day, The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Nigeria Shippers Council are holding a joint summit on anti corruption in Abuja.
The theme of the one day event is “Zero Tolerance for Corruption .”
Organisers say the summit is based on the challenge that despite the gains recorded in the fight against corruption in all sectors of the economy, the maritime transport sector has remained vulnerable to unwholesome practices.
The event is expected to host His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Ministers; High-Level Officials of Government; Stakeholders of the Maritime and Transport Industry; Law Enforcement; Civil Society Organizations and other distinguished guests.
