The Federal ministry of works says the Apongbon bridge on Lagos Island which was closed for rehabilitation work has been completed and will be reopened for traffic on Wednesday.
The bridge was closed last month, November on some sections to address a major flooding problem on the 150 meters stretch.
The federal controller of works in Lagos, Adedamola Kuti says the entire drainage path of about 1.5 kilometres from the bridge, through communities to Outer Marina and into the Lagoon, blocked by illegal refuse disposal, has been cleaned.
The repaired road will now ease the movement of traffic along the axis.
He appealed to residents using drainage channels as refuse dumps to change their attitudes and begin to protect government infrastructure as their personal property.
