President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the killing of four aid workers by terrorists in the country’s north-east region.
The President, in a statement released by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, also commiserated with the deceased’s family and loved ones.
He said “Evil will always be defeated by good at the end of the day. Whatever seeming victory evil records, eventually rebounds on the evildoer. We are resolved to beat evil in this land, and we remain unrelenting till we achieve it.”
The President urged all insurgents once again to lay down their arms, and rejoin decent humanity.
The six aid workers were abducted on July the 19th in Borno state when armed gunmen attacked the vehicles used by the Action Against Hunger.
The victims later appeared in a video six days later, begging the Nigerian government to ensure their release.
One of them was killed in September by the terror group before Friday’s murder of four others.
Meanwhile, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mr Edward Kallon has condemned the execution of the aid workers.
He said in a statement that his thoughts go to their families, friends and colleagues who are enduring unspeakable pain and hardship.”
Following this incident, the Humanitarian Coordinator is pleading for the immediate release of Grace Taku, the only woman who was in the ACF team, and whose whereabouts remain unknown,” and Alice Loksha, a nurse and a mother, who was abducted during an attack in Rann in March 2018.
