The Central Bank of Nigeria has said it will increase the minimum loan deposit Ratio of banks to 70 percent by 2020.
CBN says the plan is to encourage banks to lend and de-risk the real sector, particularly the SMEs.
In May, the Apex bank introduced 60 percent minimum Loan deposit ratio, for banks to boost lending to private sector.
The ratio was further increased to 65 per cent in September.
The CBN says this move will encourage employment at the ratio of 70 per cent by the end of next year.
