Indian police have denied shooting people during protests in Delhi as anger at a citizenship law spreads across the country.
At least three people said they were shot, but police say the wounds were caused by broken tear gas canisters.
Deadly protests have broken out across India over a controversial citizenship bill that critics fear could further marginalize the country’s minority Muslim community.
But India Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, says the bill is for minorities who have faced years of persecution outside and have no place to go except India, adding that Muslims are not considered minorities in India.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to hear a petition against the police action inside Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia University where they allegedly attacked students inside campus premises like the library and toilets.
