Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, and his predecessor, Tanko Al-Makura have debunked reports in the media that the state is burdened by an Eighteen Billion, nine hundred million naira debt left by the past administration of the state.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, the governor said the amount owed by the state cannot be described as a debt but a monthly deduction from the state’s allocation due to financial aids it secured.
The two leaders urged journalists to desist from twisting reports in a way that could stir up up crisis in the state, but to rather focus on
developmental journalism.
Godwin Agwam reports that the internet was awash with reports of an 18.9 billion naira debt inherited by Governor Abdullahi Sule from his
predecessor Tanko Al-makura.
The story had alleged a receipt of 8.9 billion bailout fund and 10 billion naira loan collected by the past administration which is currently being
deducted from the allocation of the state.
