Nearly 100 homeless persons have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by Babcock University Association of medical students to Yaba residents in Lagos.
The mission sought to bring basic health services to persons who otherwise find quality healthcare a luxury beyond their means.
Residents of Yaba community, most of them underage, came out in their numbers for the free medical checks.
One of the beneficiaries, a mother of three without any means of livelihood said she was very happy when she heard the students were coming and she was already there to get drugs for her sick husband and daughter
The Babcock University Association of medical students is concerned about the well being of Nigerians.
They say the mission became necessary having observed the inability of locals there to undertake regular checks for lack of funds.
Some beneficiaries say the medical mission is a blessing to them.
Access to primary healthcare services is considered to be one of the basic necessities of life.
With less than two weeks to Christmas, many continue to face health challenges imposed by preventable,or at least treatable diseases, partly because they cannot afford quality care.
