The National Association of Nigerian Students has called for immediate release of Agba Jalingo, a journalist and activist charged with treasonable felony, terrorism and attempting to topple the Cross River State Government.
Public Relations Officer of the Association, Adeyemi Azeez, said the journalist has been in detention for more than one hundred days as he awaits the ruling of the court.
This is a move he believes is inhuman, urging those involved in Agba Jalingo’s plight to ensure his release, in order not to
undermining the nation’s democracy.
The Publisher of Cross River Watch was arrested in August over a report alleging that Governor Ben Ayade had diverted five hundred million naira belonging to the state.
He filed a bail application in October but it was rejected by a Federal High Court.
