The Ondo state government in partnership with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and some technical partners from China is set to establish a cassava to Ethanol factory in Oke- Iluse area of the state.
The factory, will create jobs for unemployed youths and boost the state revenue.
Addressing reporters after assessing the project site, Special Adviser to Ondo state governor on Agriculture said the project would boost government Internally generated revenue. His position was corroborated by another government official.
Representatives of the NNPC and that of the technical partners said the project is well conceived.
The team later visited the state governor to brief him on the outcome of their feasibility studies. Nigeria is the highest producer of cassava in Africa and up till now, the country has not been able to take advantage of that to improve life economy.
