The house of representatives has summoned the chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Bolaji Owasanoye.
The lower legislative chamber summoned Owasanoye following a motion introduced at Tuesday’s plenary session by John Dyegh from Benue state.
He is to substantiate claims he made in a report recently unveiled by the commission that members of the national assembly fraudulently enrich themselves with monies meant for constituency projects.
The report, which tracked 424 projects from 2015–2018 zonal intervention projects between June and August, 2019, covered 12 states and the federal capital territory.
The green chamber frowned at the report, stressing that it was a deliberate attempt to rubbish and ridicule the National Assembly and portray it as not having credible persons.
